My Miraval Experience
I recently had the opportunity to experience the amazing, new Miraval Berkshires, and I can't wait to return! Their tagline "Life in Balance" is genuinely achievable in this stunning setting.
As part of the wellness experience, there is a focus on digital detox. When we were on our way, we were a little nervous about not having our phones by our side, but after the first day, it was so refreshing to see people looking at each other during dinner and talking, no phones on the table and no one distractedly scrolling through their iPhone. They even provide a little crib in your room to put your phone to rest! I learned two things: One, I didn't miss anything by not being on my phone, and two, I reached a level where my anxiety was gone by Day Three. I don't know if it's solely attributed to my phone, but I'm sure it's part of it.
Plan your activities before arrival to have an authentic Miraval Wellness experience. We did some fun, challenging things, including an Artful Photography Stroll with tips on using your iPhone, a Capture Your Aura session where you can see the colors of your energy and what that means about your personality - who knew?? (see photo below - don’t poke fun, they said ALL the pictures are unflattering! :)). We also experienced energizing Yoga Flow, Hip Stretches, Cooking Classes, Qigong Flowing Meditation, Throwing Pottery, and a beautiful nature walk. At the spa, I had one of the best massages and facials I've ever had. It is truly a destination for complete and total wellness.
As you can see from my aura, my primary color is green, and my secondary color is yellow. Green focuses on love and service, and yellow has an energy that connects to our mental cells, being cerebral, intellectual, and having number-based thought processes. Having come from a background in finance, this is spot on. It's a good indication of a positive state of overall health and well being - whew!
The complementary meals, with lots of plant-based choices, were delicious. The portions, at first glance, seem small. However, they are healthfully right-sized, and after your meal, you feel happily satisfied. Gluten-free and vegan options are available, but for the carnivores who enjoy a steak with a glass of wine (alcohol is not included), that was available as well.
Our room was perfect, and the beds were incredibly comfortable; I haven't slept that well since! We stayed in the new cottages with a beautiful little patio and lots of space. I appreciated that in our double bed room there was a double sink bathroom with plenty of room to get ready. For a "Gilded Age" experience, stay in the renovated historic mansion on the property with the best views of the Berkshire Mountains. Built by John Sloane in 1894, the stately "cottage" is surrounded by 380 acres of woodland delights, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the famous landscape architect who created New York’s Central Park!
Miraval Berkshires, in Lenox, MA, was primarily built from the ground up and opened in June 2020. The design of the buildings is impressive, with every tiny detail well thought out. It's a combination of elegant, rustic, modern, comfortable decor with great indoor and outdoor spaces for reading, chatting, and relaxing.
If you want to get away to a tranquil setting in any four seasons, reset, recharge, or just vacation. In that case, Miraval is the perfect place for friends, couples, babymoons, or solo travel!
